Parting Powder prevents prevents the casting sand sticking to the pattern (object being cast) and allows the pattern to be more easily removed from the sand as the mould is made. Also used to ensure that 2 halves of the mould are easily parted. The Parting Powder is finely Ground Natural Calcium Carbonate (Ca Co3) and canbe used used as a parting agent for non- ferrous metal sand moulding. It can be applied using either a fine brush or sprinkled using a finely woven dusting bag. 
 
Care should be taken not to use too much in corners and on fine patterns as detail can be lost. Most alternative powders like talc and baby powder absorb moisture making them unsuitable for use as a parting agent. 
 
Manufactured in the UK. The Parting Powder is supplied in a sealed plastic bag and is post free.
