Sand Casting Kit For Metal Casting (Delft Style) Gold Silver Bronze etc
 
The bundle contains all the items required for small scale metal casting (jewellery or model making), you just need to add metal and heat. The bundle contains:

50g Borax
Carbon Stirling Rod 300 mm
Brass Sprue Forming Mandrel
 
The two part flask is precision made from cast iron. It allows the easy duplication. The sand casting flask can be filled vertically or horizontally, securely by four locating pins. The casting void 115 x 74 x 58 mm. The flask holds the sand when a mould is being made.
 
Petrobond is a high oil mix bonded sand suitable for non ferrous metals, including gold, silver, aluminium,  bronze silicon bronze, manganese bronze, and brass and copper based alloys. The sand produces a fine surface finish and produces comparable results to delft clay, using the same techniques and tools. It can also be used as an alternative to green sand for larger castings and produces near die cast quality casting. The sand can be reused multiple times. The casting sand is supplied in a sealed plastic bag.
 
The cast iron crucible (meting pot/ dish) with pouring lip and wooden and steel handle. The handle can be unscrewed so the cast iron crucible can be use separately. The crucible bowl is 50mm wide x 27mm high. The overall length (with the handle attached) is approximately 305mm and weighs approximately 495g.
 
Borax Powder is used as a flux when soldering metal (including jewellery) and when metal is melted for casting (including sand/ delft casting and lost wax casting. The addition of borax power reduces oxidisation and improves the metal flow characteristics. For use with gold, silver, bronze, brass, aluminium.
 
A carbon (graphite) stirring rod for use when melting metals (gold, silver bronze copper & aluminium) for casting. The rods will help to remove impurities from the molten metal during the stirring process. The rod should not be used with platinum as this will contaminate. The rods are made from high density graphite and are 300mm long x 12mm diameter. The rods are brittle and care should be taken when using them.
 
The Mandrel is length is 50 mm Max diameter 14 mm and 2.95 mm shank. The mandrel is used to form the passage for the liquid metal to pass through.
